COMMENT: Sad !

The Director General of the Autonomous Port of Dakar (Pad), Dr. Sheikh Kante and his collaborators have shown the saddest of ways, yesterday during the press conference held at its premises. A meeting that was to be part of the reunion, a day of forgiveness, is transformed by the incredible quest to please the "king" in the trial of The Observer newspaper. His only crime was to have reported about a young activist engaged civil society, the M23, namely Ms. Aida Niang. That, at a meeting with the press, has made naked "some unorthodox practices" that would prevail at the Port of Dakar (Pad). The Observer, which was not the only newspaper to have relayed what Ms. Niang, is by "miracle" only in the dock. Dg Port threatened Ms. Niang and daily Observer libel. In the absence of a real court cases, the Dg Port took advantage of this meeting to the trial of L'Observateur. (Nay account). For its part, the newspaper marks its complete and total solidarity with the reporter, who has done his job in the most professional manner. It has only report what was said at a public event. If Dg Port felt defamed, he was free to enter the courts rather than use such a meeting to discredit journalists of Future Media Group. The Observer has never asked any mediation with anyone in this case. Threats of libel does not entertain and will do so not deviate from its path ". Inform right and true" The Observer newspaper is not at his first trial. Definitely a libel Dr. Sheikh Kante will not be the last. What would surprise. The Observer has always played a role in monitoring and awareness raising for people and sentinel for democracy and good governance in our country. Nothing will weaken.
